About the Project

Coordinate the lighting and scenic elements with the creative director to plan guest seating, press positions, av control, model hair, make up, dressing and back of house space. Create a ground plan and lighting plot with section to communicate the de- sign and plan the lighting angles. In addition i worked out the details and staffing of the set up, rehearsal process, show and strike to help create a unified design that could be unique but cost effective. Over the course of a few years i had developed and perfected a led runway lighting design that could be implemented in multiple different locations with many added benefits. This show represents one of its uses with minor alterations. This design consisted of daylight led fresnel’s up high on the sides for a far shot of the model and a cluster in the front for media fill. These fixtures could be positioned spot to flood to feather and blend the light depending on the end desired look, the spill also provides lighting for the a list guests who need to be treated for social media and press shots. The design also uses a system of led panel lights that can wash the near side of the model, providing a full wrap of light and soffit lighting to treat imperfections on the back set wall. The four systems could be dimmed electron- ically, something otherwise cleanly unattainable with hmi daylight units. Dimming the systems can dial in shadowing on the models and even out any imperfections between rental units. The system also requires 1/4 the power of a similar designs reducing labor intensive and unsightly cable runs, dangerous tie ins, or costly generator rentals.
