About the Project

Working closely under the creative and production direction of the team at dizon inc. And the scenic team at blt productions, technical drawings needed to be produced to functionally ensure the lighting be integrated with shelving units to provide task lighting while addressing the overall atmosphere of the space to ensure the models and product was viewed and captured as desired. The product, set, models, and support staff all needed to be curated to allow the specific color scheme of the product to be properly presented and experienced. One of the main objectives of the design processes was to ensure the lighting be a natural vessel supporting the presentation to take form. A large effort went into discussing, testing, and determining what light quality would fully support the creative directors vision of the color scheme and how the product would be experienced by guests and captured by media. The technical aspects of the design explored the use of multiple light sources (led and fluorescent), their reliability for a semi permanent installation, the frequency of the light emitted, and the color dna behind the white light source that ultimately reveal the color characteristics and details of the many different materials in the product. To solve for the overall approach the lighting, where to put the lights and for what purpose, i decided to integrate hidden led ribbon sources into the top edge shelving that surrounded the space providing a directional light to support the visual merchan- disers efforts to display the product. Overhead i created custom light boxes with fluorescent fixtures used to blanket the space with light while providing an architectural ceiling to an otherwise blank industrial roof structure. A daylight color temperature was determined and hi cri led ribbon along with full spectrum fluorescent tubes where implemented to ensure color quality was upheld. The fluorescent light was altered by the diffuser material (beige) and the fluorescent source had a green quality to it that would ultimately grey the pink in the various materials. To solve for this a layer of pink color correction was used to eliminate this problem.
