About the Project
Looking to sculpt the set and reinforce the ambiance of the show space, I decided it would be best to apply a shuttered lighting treatment to the runway, isolating it, while providing a more flat, but defined light to the models’ faces. The lighting was color corrected to a cooler temperature, to help inspire a feeling of an electrified urban setting. The angle of the lighting hitting the model created a shadow down the side of the figure, allowing the bleed of color from the red ticker and further accents from signs, screens, and billboards to naturalize the atmosphere. A proper treatment was applied to all of the billboards, signs, and backdrops, creating a media capture exposure balanced in relationship to the runway. During the after party, guest entrance experience, and step and repeat, I specified lighting fixtures with a square format to further the idea of a TV screen concept; they were programmed and focused to further the other mixed media inside the space. A great deal of planning went into ensuring that all fixtures used were specified in a responsible manner in relationship to the complex rigging requirements and timeline of the show’s production. I ensured the lighting was technically integrated within these parameters.
