About the Project

This project involved transforming a historic home on Sunset Blvd into an industry-leading, immersive guest experience celebrating the brand’s new user-generated Instagram page, @welovecoco. The guest walk-in experience and the event’s main branding opportunity included a unified view of the building facade accompanied by a backlit Chanel logo. I decided to illuminate the building’s windows as an expression of liveliness and to remove any visible imperfections that would be generated by the inside event. Upon the client’s request, I layered a soft red glow across the building’s white stucco to prevent shadowing that would take away from the structure’s details and prominence. In the interior, each room was approached with care, adhering to the client’s guidelines. The strategy was to replace existing light bulbs, specify additional tested RGBW LEDs, and introduce other task lighting to deliver the proper rendering, intensity, and color space for each area. Accents, fill, and key lighting techniques were delivered to enhance details of the space while creating the proper balance for the camera. A fully functional wireless control system was implemented to allow user flexibility across the changing demands of the event’s timeline, including weather and last-minute, client-driven requests.
